We were back in the open ocean last night around midnight until 11am this morning. Kind of rough as swells were 12 to 15 feet high but I was "practicing safe cruising" by wearing half of a Transderm Scop patch behind my ear to prevent seasickness. We are now entering the protected waters of the fjords so it is smooth again. Rain showers come and go today again. I saw a couple of sea otters playing in the ocean but by the time I got my telephoto lens on camera they were gone.
On his noon navigation and weather update, the Captain said we will have some rough seas again tonight between 1am and 4am. It is 52F here. After lunch we went to a wine seminar and tasting. At 4pm we will be sailing up "ice berg sound" to the Tempano glacier. The Silver Seas Spirit was in there already so we had to wait for a while before we could enter. There are numerous water falls on the side of the steep mountains that just plunge into the water so no one could possible live on these.
We arrived at the Tempano glacier at 5pm. It is spectacular!! Better than yesterday's. There is a house/Rangers station with 3 rangers there today who control access to the glacier. We went up on the top deck and had someone take a photo of us with glacier in the background. They launched to ship's rescue boat out to the face to get some glacier ice to display this evening at the Seven Seas Society party. It took a picture of it at the glacier to show you the size contrast and just how huge this glacier is. They just announced that as soon as the rescue boat is back and stowed, we will be leaving.
We will be meeting two other couples at 7pm for cocktails and then dinner in Prime 7 (the steakhouse). I will try to get photos downloaded and link to the album before we leave. Tomorrow will be another day of cruising the fjords and will visit another glacier.
Ok, you are going to have to do a little work to see these INCREDIBLE photos. You will have to "cut & paste" the link below into a new browser tab. Then click on the first photo to enlarge it for better viewing. In the upper right corner you will see a "i" in a little white circle. Click on it to see the captions on the photos. You will definitely want to see these glacier photos.
