Sunday, January 8th--Sea Day

It is a glorious Sunday morning with smooth seas and 81F at 10:30am.  On Sundays for breakfast in the dining room they serve caviar and eggs benedict so we started our day there.  During breakfast at a window table in the Compass Rose dining room, it was ironic to be sitting there eating caviar as we could see Haiti in the distance and wondering what they had for breakfast.  While Rebecca was getting ready this morning I posted yesterday's blog so you can read about both yesterday and today now.  During breakfast we read the Dallas Morning News (Dallas newspaper that they print from internet daily for us).  At 10am we attended the interdenominational Sunday church service.  Ironic again as service was held in one of the ship's cocktail lounges.  As you can see in the picture it was done very nicely and led by our cruise director, Ray Solaire.  Ok,   after leaving Ft Lauderdale we headed straight south towards Cuba then turned easterly to go around it.  During the night and early this morning we turned southernly again to pass between Cuba and Haiti and are now on direct heading to Curacao.  We will be at the port of Wilemstad on the island of Curacao by 11am tomorrow.  That will be topic of tomorrow's blog however.  We have been getting the college bowl games as well as the NFL football playoff games on our satellite tv.  Mostly we watch the Fox News Channel.  Between the Dallas newspaper and Fox News, we can stay current with what is going on back in reality!  When we got back to our suite after church service our suite steward was just finishing cleaning it.  He said that during dusting our desk he saw my Masonic ring and that his father and uncle were also Masons.  They are Phillipinos.  My brothers are everywhere.  At noon we will be heading to the gym.  This evening is the Captain's Welcome Reception party at 6pm.  Been there, done that too many times on past cruises so will not attend it.  After dinner the show tonight is by a comedian called "Noodles" and then Ray, our cruise director, who is said to be a VERY talented puppeteer.
Joke of the Day:  What's the difference between praying in a church service and praying in the casino??  You really mean it in the casino!

Every Sunday when at sea the cruise director holds a non-denominational service.
