Flight and Hotel--Ft Lauderdale
We left the house at 6am on Thursday to make our 9:10 flight from DFW to Ft Lauderdale. Regent cruises booked up in first class and the American Airlines flight departed and arrived on time. We were met in baggage claim by Regent representatives who picked up our 4 checked bags and 2 carry-on bags and carted them out to an awaiting limo which took us to the Ft Lauderdale Ritz Carlton on the beach. Regent booked all the guests who were doing the full 72 day cruise there. There are 193 people like us doing the full cruise. The Mariner, our ship, holds 700 passengers and it is booked full for the first segment which is from Ft Lauderdale to Lima, Peru. The Ritz Carlton is a VERY nice hotel and our room was on 14th floor with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. Thursday evening we went down to a ballroom at 6:30 for cocktail party which was followed at 7:30 by the gala cruise dinner. After dinner we were all entertained by The Platters. For those of you young folks reading this, The Platters were a famous motown group back in 60's & 70's. I am not sure what happened to our cruise itinerary I had posted earlier. I am also having a problem figuring out how to post pictures also. Will work on it later.
