Saturday, Jan 7--Day at Sea

Saturday's blog written on Sunday morning:  I spent most of Saturday trying to figure out how to put photos on my blog site.  Good thing we get internet time on the ship free now as used $100 of time online.  Internet onboard is faster than most other ships we have been on.  There is WiFi throughout the ship so can use my laptops (yes, I brought two just in case one crapped out) in our suite.  At noon there was a party in the theatre for the 193 full cruise passengers.  All the ship's officers and staff were there to greet us individually as we entered.  We were also given a nice pin to wear to denote that we were full cruise people.  Waiters served cocktails and snacks but too early for us to start drinking.  We rushed from there up to do our daily one hour workout in the gym.  Rebecca does 3 miles on the treadmill and I do an hour on the stationary bike plus we both do some weights.  At 2pm we had room service bring a turkey sandwich and salad.  At 5:45 the ship's bell rang and everyone came out of their suites into the hallway with a wine glass.  The suite stewardesses served wine and snacks while we meet the people in the suites near us.  This is called a "block party" and only Regent Cruises does this.  It is a great idea.  Most of the people near us are doing the full cruise also.  We will have a block party at beginning of each of the 4 segments of the cruise as new passengers will join us each segment.  The first segment is 14 days--Ft Lauderdale to Lima, Peru.  After dressing for dinner we went up to the Observation Lounge for a glass of wine before going to dinner.  Some of my favorites on menu included escargot (I had two orders of 6) and veal osso bucco.  Both were really good.  So far the food has been very good.  After dinner we went to the production show featuring the ship's Jean-Ann Ryan dance company.  It is the same group of young people who performed for us last month on our transatlantic cruise on this ship.  I invited a older gentleman who is traveling alone to join us on the front row for this show.  John is from Durango and very nice man.  He thinks Rebecca is a special lady.  He's right!  We lost an hour of sleep as clocks were set ahead Saturday night.
