We arrived at this port, our last one in Peru, at 2pm today and will be sailing at 10pm. It was a very tight fit getting ship into dock area and was awfully close to the rocky shoreline. Will be another trick to get ship our after dark. Oh, well, that is our Captain's problem. This port is strictly a commercial one. Several large bins that they appear to be loading corn into truck from them. Will go have a look see. No tours today, but like yesterday there is a shuttle bus service to town.
Continuing, I did take the shuttle to the town but never got out of the bus, just came right back. I did see and learn something however. The town was large and had a beach. It was kind of an oasis on ocean edge with barren land as far as you can see. I found out they import corn, soybeans, and wheat from Argentina and that is what I saw being loaded on trucks. They have several mines near here and are exporting copper, zinc, lead, potash, and ammonia nitrate. Large dump trucks are just now arriving and dumping right on the pier and is being bagged in huge plastic bags. Wish I knew what it is.
I am ready to go and Rebecca is about ready as the ship's two singers are having a 6pm show this evening. The tours will not be back until about sailing time at 10pm so ship will be quiet this evening at dinner. I have requested the chef prepare veal parmesean and spagetti for us tonight.
We lose an hour on clock tonight. Back from dinner and I was up on deck taking pictures of them unloading grain from huge cargo ship into semi trucks. Will be sailing soon.
